Charging MacBook Pro M3 14-inch with Dell P3424WEB Monitor

Hi,

I have a Dell 34 Curved Video Conferencing Monitor - P3424WEB that provides 90W of power while connected to my MacBook Pro M3 14-inch. Is this recommended? Can it affect the battery life of the MacBook? Or could it have any other adverse effects on the MacBook?

Thank you!

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.5

The Mac does a good job of power management— you are not going to hurt the battery.

The rule of thumb has always been—

if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on the battery only—this is how you help optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery by reducing the cycle count.
