1. I try to enter internet recovery.
2. It gives me a prompt to enter my WiFi password
3. I enter my WiFi password
4. It gives me an apple logo and a progress bar
5. The screen turns grey
6. I leave it for an hour
7. No change

I see you have an extreme obsolete device. So, connect this to an external monitor or TV using HDMI. Do you get what you ware looking for? I would like to say that my 2018 MBP screen went dead 11 times during the times of COVID. With this being the case, sending service is all that was available at that moment. The culprit ended up being the connector between the LogicBoard and the screen. Perhaps this is that case here?

Which has the same issue happening as the mac os x installer so I don't believe safe mode would work. There is not an hdmi port or atleast not one I can see. And i have reset the smc and nvram many times. It could definitely be the connection between the screen and the logic board. Reinstall the macOS:

Troubleshooting a Black Mac Screen:
Corrupt system files for the macOS would be replaced, and missing system files for the macOS would be installed.. So, I take it you've connected an external monitor. What happens when you take a screenshot of your Mac? Doe you see the grey screen? OR do you see you window and Desktop use fine.

Hello. I have tried to reinstall mac os x through all means that I could find. Whenever something starts to work. The screen goes blank again. I don't see how this applies to a bootable usb stick.
There is not a way to connect a external monitor.
There is no usbc on the device. I may have made a fault in describing the issue. But the screen goes pure grey when booting macos usbs
