Does Face ID render passwords moot?

My Face ID now works for my bank account, but none of the recent passwords for that account in my password list on my iPhone work to log me in. If my Face ID is turned on does that make the other passwords moot?

No, because you still need the password to log in to the bank’s site when you don’t have your phone. So if you don’t know the password go to the bank’s site and use their “forgot password” link.

What CAN make passwords moot is PassKeys (software security) and Security Keys (Hardware security devices) if your bank supports them. Apple supports both passkeys and Security Keys; so do most major companies also, including Google, Microsoft, PayPal, and the US Government.
