Logic Pro: Same Sound Library on 2 Computers

I have logic pro installed on my iMac Pro 2017 with the sound library on an external drive. I installed logic pro on my MacBook Air M1 and now want to point logic pro to the sound library.

When i connect the external hard drive to the macbook and open logic then click on relocate sound library, there is two selections 1st is Macintosh, status: current sound library files location. 2nd is my external drive, status: Sound library files exist here. But both options are greyed out.

The external hard drive is accessible on the MacBook. It has read and write permission.

What to do?

Try this.

On the M1 mac,  rename the current "Library" folder on external drive to something else like "Temp_Library" (Logic won't grey out the drive after that). After that close Logic app and disconnect the external drive. Relaunch Logic and let it download and install Essential Sound library to system drive. This will wipe symbolic links created during previous library relocation. When Essential Sounds library is installed, connect the external drive and perform the relocation (just Essential Sounds will be relocated, which is needed to restore the symbolic links). Quit Logic. Now, delete the library folder containing just the Essential Sounds and rename the folder containing full library from "Temp_Library" back to "Library". Restart Logic Pro and it should now be working with the external drive library.

I was in the process of creating symlinks already when I found out that you answered the question.

I ended up doing your method for the library files as it's neater and created symlinks manually for the Apple Loops folder on both computers after moving it to the external drive.

Here's where I learned about using symlinks for Logic Pro library files:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a7DNlxXFoY

In the above video it was suggested to create symlinks for GarageBand library files as well. Does Logic Pro use the library files of Garage Band?

Thank you :)))
