Compatibility of A1314 Keyboard with iPad Air 11 inch

I was using the A1314 Keyboard that came with my iMac of 2014 to type on my wife’s iPad Air 2. I can’t pair it with her new iPad Air 11 inch. This is I think the Aluminum keyboard of 2009 with 2 AA batteries. I can’t find the manual on line and don’t even know how to launch the Bluetooth connection short of removing the batteries and inserting them back, and turning the keyboard on. This brings “Clavier de System Administrator” on the iPad Bluetooth pairing setting, but the pairing is unsuccessful. Any Idea as to how or why? It’s an old keyboard of course but it looks like new!

The Apple Magic Keyboard for Mac that uses replaceable AA batteries is not compatible with iPad.

By contrast, later versions of Magic Keyboard for Mac, that have a built-in rechargeable battery, are fully usable with iPad models that support iPadOS.

To get this keyboard in the pairing mode please press the button on the right side of it, opposite of the battery position

Thank you LotusPilot. This is unfortunate as the keyboard is perfectly functional but I’ll be generous and say that it was unavoidable!
