iphone 15 pro message app freezing and not responding

My message app will intermittently freeze on a page and not respond to closing out and reopening the app. It also will not respond to rebooting the phone. I thought it was fixe for part of the day after changing my apple password but it has reverted to this odd freezing up behavior. Help!

If I keep pressing keys out of frustration, it takes longer as now the poor app has more processing to do. Rebooting my iPhone sometimes helps temporarily. Mine keeps freezing, locking &/or bumping me out. I have an iPhone 13, updated to iOS 17.5.1. When I try to access the Messages app, or type a new message, the screen either freezes & locks or glitches & bumps me out. Or, if I do manage to type a text, it then either delays sending or won’t send at all. I’ve tried turning my phone off/on again, restarted it, gone into Settings-Messages-iMessages & turned off/on again & same with Settings-Mobile Data. Tried most suggestions listed so far. We have Fixed Wireless, our router’s firmware is up to date, I have plenty of data & there’s no issues/outages with our service provider. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance.😊
