My macbook air m3 doesnt have the correct default resolution options

Hi, i recently bought a macbook air M3. I use it mainly with a studio display, but when its not connected to the studio display, there is no 'default' display showing and there is no option for what i understand should be the normal default of 1440 x 932. See the image att. Even if I chose to view the options as a list, no 1440 x 932 exists. The result is that on normal use, many apps just appear to big, the text size etc. I have another macbook air M1 and the 1440 x 932 is the 'Default' option.

As you can see from the images - there is no "default" showing when i click on the display menu option. and When i go to Advanced and click "show resolutions as list" the best i can get is what shows in the list as default at 1280 x 832.

Am i going mad?!
