why doesn't Mail trash emails from blocked senders?

I have repeatedly blocked senders -- those pesky junk mail spammers -- but a dismayingly large number of the emails still show up in my junk folder. Not all, but a lot. There's not even a flag on them to show that the sender is blocked; but when I select the sender I can "unblock" the sender, so I can see that this is a repeat offender that I've already blocked. I've selected the "move to trash" option in the Blocked Sender Options on my desktop, my ipad, and my iphone, to no avail.

This seems like the kind of thing that Mail should be able to handle -- to automatically send email from blocked senders to the Trash folder. So, why doesn't it?

Block or unblock senders in Mail on Mac

The Blocked icon  appears next to the sender’s name in the message list and a banner is added to their messages to indicate they’re blocked.

The best you can do here is make changes to your Settings and compare your results...

Not sure why you are looking at Junk to begin with...(?)

Mail>Settings>Junk
