Can I use my iMac as an external screen for my MacBook Pro?

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch 2017 with (2) thunderbolt 3 ports running MacOS Mojave. Can I connect with a iMac 27-inch, Late 2013 running macOS Catalina and use the iMac as a display? what cable should I use?

Maybe.

Basic requirements

The iMac to be used as a display must be a 2009 to mid-2014 model and be running High Sierra or earlier.

The Mac to be connected must be 2019 or earlier and running Catalina or earlier.

Connections

24" & 27" iMacs from 2009-2010 must be connected by miniDisplayPort

iMac models from 2011 to mid 2014 must be connected by either Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt2.
