iTunes/Music library moved to new pc, now missing hundreds of files

Hi all, hoping to get some help with this issue.

Scenario: I have laptop A: 2016 MacBook Pro, and laptop B: 2017 MacBook pro. I want to copy the music library from Laptop A to Laptop B.

On laptop A, I have consolidated all my music, it is in “iTunes Media” folder. Every song is playable and all working top notch. I exported the library.xml file to keep all playlist information.

On my external SSD I placed the entire “iTunes” playlist, including all music and library files.

On the new laptop with a clean Apple Music/iTunes with nothing on, I paste the Laptop A “iTunes” folder into it. (Few hours goes by as it takes a while it’s quite large folder).

Once complete I hold the option key and open music app. Then create new library and select the library.xml file from laptop A.

I thought oh wonderful, everything copies over, all the playlists the same with the same song counts. Go to play some of the files and they show up not found, now over thousands of the files (out of about 50000) cannot be found. How can I fix this? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for reading!
