Apple DVI monitor flickers while docked but not when plugged in directly.

Greetings,

I recently created a docked setup for my 14" M1 Pro MacBook Pro but I have been having problems with the monitor. When plugged into a Thunderbolt docking station the display will flicker every couple of seconds. The monitor uses a DVI connection with a native resolution of 1920x1200. Here's what I've tried so far:

  • Swapping adapters from a cheap Amazon one to an official apple DVI > HDMI adapter. Same issue.
  • Setting to resolution lower to 480p. Same issue.
  • Plugging the monitor in directly to the MacBook. This fixed the issue, but is a band-aid solution, as now there's a lot of cable clutter, defeating the point of using a dock.

Does anyone know what part of the chain is causing the flicker? I'm really looking for a one cable solution for my MacBook.
