The people and pets menu item has been lost. I have been workin one it for weeks and suddenly it is gone.
I am on a Mac mini using os 14.5. is there aw way to restore from my backup and remove them/.
I have downlo9aded a new copy of the os and that didn't correct things

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Can you post a screenshot of the menu you're seeing?
Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?
The People album is under the Photos section at the top of the sidebar:
If you don't have anything under the Photos title move your cursor over Photos and look for the > button at the far right of of the sidebar like this:
I haven't installed any new apps recently. One day all was fin and the next dat all the menu items that are standard and come with the photo app were gone
there are several menus items missing from the left handymen. m There is another item under view dropdiwnn but it is the same
That photo icon somehow showed up ate the bottom of my menu and you are right everything is there
now I would li,e to figure out how to get it back to the top again
