World of Warcraft Freezing and Crashing after a few seconds of gameplay - MacOS Sonoma 14.5

Seen a few posts regarding this. After re-installing WoW after a long time off, it seems that the game freezes on all versions (Classic, Cata, Retail) after a few seconds of gameplay. Tried multiple workarounds and fixes, but no luck as of yet. Currently on MacOS Sonoma 14.5. I have resorted to bootcamp just for WoW at this point for the time being, but would be great to get back to just using MacOS.

Is this issue still unresolved or has there been a fix or workaround?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.5

From what I understand, Apple updated the graphics driver in Intel MacBooks when they released the Sonoma update. Apparently, MacBooks with M1+ chips still run World of Warcraft, but on Intel MacBooks running Sonoma it will crash every time. According to Blizzard they are unable to update WoW without Apple changing the drivers, but others say that this is a Blizzard problem, not an Apple one. None of this helps the consumer, unfortunately. My solution to this problem was to roll my macOS back to Ventura. It was a very frustrating experience, because Apple have made it tortuous to do this.

You should check the Blizzard WoW forums to see if others are reporting similar issues with macOS. You may get more support for WoW there than on the Apple forums.

You can also contact Blizzard support as well for assistance.

Make sure you are not using an anti-virus apps, cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software since they are not needed on a Mac and usually cause more problems than they solve since they interfere with the normal operation of macOS.

Many games are designed only for desktop graphics boards and not notebook. An eGPU may be possible to enhance performance if your game is in need of a desktop GPU.

Graphics switching is in the System Settings and its setting if toggled may improve performance.

Steam, popular amongst gamers can eat up valuable graphics processing time. Make sure your game does or does not need it, and verify if it does need it that it works in your configuration.

Note, I don't have WoW, I just happen to know variables that frequently can affect graphics intensive games.

Lastly, you may want to do an Etrecheck check and share the results.
