My iPad flickers but not charging with the Apple charger

I had my charger for a while. I know its nothing wromg with my charger because nothing happened to it, but my one of my apple charger head sticks are bent inwards somehow so I can't use that. Now I have a different brand charger head and it just started flickering charging on and off, so I have to use my moms charger and it works perfectly fine. She doesn't use a apple charger but she uses the apple charger head and it charges for me. What do I do with my bent charger head, and do apple products require apple charger heads in order to charge it?
