iPhone 15 Pro no longer water resistant after AppleCare glass repair

Apple repaired my iPhone 15 Pro (cracked back glass) under AppleCare. A few days after the repair, the Phone was in my pocket in a shallow wading pool and immediately the lenses fogged up and water dripped out of the back of the phone. I shut it down immediately but it never restarted again. Shouldn't an iPhone repaired by Apple still be as water resistant as a new iPhone? Talking to Apple they insist I pay the $106 charge to repair the liquid damage because I can't prove that I didn't exceed the 30-meter depth limit of water exposure (!)

I suspect that during the repair someone failed to apply the waterproof seal, since none of my previous iPhones ever had an issue with water resistance. What to do?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 17

After talking to Apple Customer Support for a hour, they sent me to an Apple Store where they acknowledged that the culprit was a shoddy Apple repair, but (as expected) still made me pay the $106 AppleCare charge to get the phone fixed. They said the only way to get my money refunded was through Apple Customer Support. So one hand of Apple sending me to another, which sent me back to the first. Oh well, my first real disappointment with Apple. I won't be upgrading to a new phone this year to recoup my losses.
