Okay, I suspect you meant Brother MFC-J895DW, and not MFC-J895OW.
That’s an AirPrint printer. Which is a good thing. A very good thing. It shouldn’t need vendor printer drivers. Or scanner drivers. At all.

First, ensure the latest printer firmware is loaded. See page 505 in the printer manual for the firmware update procedure.
Once the firmware is current, configure AirPrint and check if the scanner now works. AirPrint can be used for scanning on some multifunction printers in addition to printing, such as with this printer. According to the printer manual, the printer supports scanning using both AirPrint and TWAIN, which means the macOS Image Capture app may well work here, if AirPrint scanning somehow doesn’t.
