You may want to check through Apple Support's online article (link below) for tips:

If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services - Apple Support

Eg: See item 3: says that you may need to update you MacOS to the newest compatible version for your Mac model. Eg: Check the article below, and under your MacBook Pro model you will see listed the "Newest compatible operating system"

Identify your MacBook Pro model - Apple Support

If the MacBook Pro (or MacBook ?) cannot update beyond OS 11 :What's new in the updates for macOS Big Sur - Apple Support says: "macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 (is the newest version,)

This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users".

Reminder: It is always wise to back up the data on your Mac before updating.

Mac not Connecting to the App Store:

A. Provide More:

What happens when you try? Are you getting an error message? Or is just not opening?

B. Restart your Mac:

Perform a restart, shutting it down for 30 seconds and then logging back in, using the same user.

C. Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe Mode, Login Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting another update install. For instructions, go here: How to Use Safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support

D. Single-Out this Device:

Try accessing this on another Mac or your iPhone or iPad. IF you can access it, then it is an issue with this Mac, and is not occurring across your devices.
