One of my movies has decided to become a movpkg file, which means I can no longer sync it to my phone/ipad. This makes it completely worthless to me. How do I fix this or get a refund for a now useless file? If this is how Apple will be proceeding they can say goodbye to any further revenue from me. I will buy dvds and rip them.

You can still download your purchase to your iPhone or iPad from the iTunes Store.
Open the TV app
Reveal the left menu and select movies or recent purchases
Find your movie and select
Click the down arrow to download to your device
Then I'm stuck with the wrong artwork. I use these programs EXCLUSIVELY for the purpose of managing my devices. I need to be able to change the artwork (downloading direct to phone leaves me at the mercy of whatever apple has chosen to change the art to on any given day, and also leaves me with stupid horizontal art instead of poster/dvd art) and update the movie names and details so that they sort the way I need them to. It is clear that apple is no longer fit to provide my movies.
I use these programs EXCLUSIVELY to manage my devices. If I can't sync to them, it is useless. Apple is trying to really hard to make me abandon their ecosystem entirely. They have broken every single thing that I use my devices for and forced me to third party apps etc to be able to use my media.

It’s not useless - it will play using the Apple TV App. Refund n/a for the same reason.
