Most recent models of iPad and iPad Pro are supplied with both a 20W USB-C Power Adapter - and an appropriate USB-C charging cable appropriate for purchased iPad. Some iPad Pro models sold in Europe (and other regions) are not now supplied with a Power Adapter, but are still supplied with a USB-C charging cable.

In counties where a Power Adapter is not included in the box with the iPad, the purchase cost of the iPad is proportionately reduced - as it is assumed that you may already have a suitable USB-C Power Adapter that supports USB PD (Power Delivery). If you don't have a suitable Power Adapter, these are available as an accessory directly from Apple, or an Apple Authorised Retailer.

Assuming that your new iPad features a USB-C port, if you intend to use an older style USB Type-A Power Adapter, the Power Adapter must be rated at 12W or greater. You will require an appropriate USB Type-A to USB-C charging cable. By example:

  • Belkin BOOST↑Charge Pro Flex USB-A to USB-C Cable (1m)

While a standard USB Type-A Power Adapter rated at 12W or more is perfectly usable with your iPad, the iPad will not charge as quickly as would if charging from a USB-C Power Adapter rated at 20W or greater.
