Question about ZOHO after a Screen pop up came up on iPad

The Zoho app itself is legitimate, but the popup and the person you called ARE NOT

The pop-ups are a common scheme used to trick people into thinking there is something wrong with their machine, along with instructions on how to 'remedy' the situation.

If you call the number, the scammer/person on the other end then tries to convince you to install some software under the guise of helping you clear the problem.

These apps have legitimate use - they're often used for collaborative uses, screen sharing, etc., but if misused they can give the remote user access to your machine, and that's what they're aiming for.

Without more detail, it's impossible to know their intent, but the chances are it was to install some malware or ransomware and extort money from you.

Your only mistake was calling the number, but that's not terminal.

Installing the app itself itsn't much of a problem, as long as you didn't contact the spammer afterwards and shared your screen or otherwise gave them access to your machine. If you did, wipe your machine now and restore from a backup. Otherwise feel free to delete the app, and tell the scammer where to go if they get back in contact.

Any such popups are ads served to you by websites you visit.

They are all scams designed to scare you into buying useless software or steal your personal information.

Do not ever download anything from the pop up, do not ever call any number or click on any link.

There is no way for Apple to do anything about you getting ads from sites or stopping you from falling for scams.
