Iphone SE 2nd generation cannot turn off airplane mode on apple watch SE (mirror airplane mode enabled)

It's been like this for about a week or two, and I did do some updates in the meantime on both devices, so yes, might be caused by an update as I didn't change any watch or phone settings :-) Watch is also at watchOS 10.5.

I just fiddled around with it, and changed the airplane mode behaviour on the watch. the wifi slider was deactivated. I activated it, by dragging the slider to the right, and the mirror mode works again.

Topic can be closed and is solved. Left my solution for future reference for others.

No, no restrictions set up to my knowledge. (to be sure, how do I check these to ensure that I haven't inadvertantly activated something I shouldn't?)

I can disable airplane mode from the watch itself by tapping the side button and selecting the icon to turn it off.

(but the point of that mirror mode is that the two work in sync so we don't have to do this :-D )

So, the next step would be an unpair, erase and repair?

It's a Iphone SE 2nd generation with iOS 17.5.1

Funny thing, it used to work flawlessly, until one day it didn't anymore.
