Why is my Apple Watch Series 5 saying it's out of date when pairing with iPhone 8?

I bought an Apple Watch Series 5 and when I try to pair it with my iPhone 8 it says it out date I look up online if it still compatible it says yes can someone please help please and thank you

You will need to check which watchOS version installed on your Apple Watch Series 5. If you have watchOS 10.x installed on your Apple Watch, then it will not work with your iPhone 8. This is because watchOS 10.x requires an iPhone running iOS version 17 which your iPhone 8 cannot run.
