M4 iPad unable to screen mirror from Macbook pro.

New iPad often does not appear as an option to screen mirror. Everything is up to date and on the same wifi: M4 iPad pro & M1 Max Macbook pro. Used to work on my old M1 iPad pro but doesn't work consistently with the new one M4. Did they change the wireless connectivity on it?

Are you referring to Sidecar? I don't remember iPads ever being able to act as AirPlay displays for other devices, although it is possible that Sidecar and AirPlay use common underlying mechanisms.

Your Mac and M4 and the operating systems they run would appear to be new enough to meet the Sidecar system requirements. So I'd suggest checking the "Additional requirements" with a fine-toothed comb.
