Refunding the purchase of a gift card

Walmart most definitely lied to you. Ask them why they didn’t put the gift cards in a more secure or locked down location? How does Apple control how the merchant displays merchandise? I go to Walgreens or CVS and razor blades are locked up behind glass. Cigarettes are only sold behind customer service counter. But gift cards worth hundreds are sold openly. Hummm? Did you ever ask yourself why that is?

Walmart collected the funds. They would need to refund your purchase. If you used a credit or debit card to complete the transaction, call the number on the back of the card, tell the bank’s fraud team and dispute your charge with the bank.

Did you report it to the Walmart Store management?

Did you contact your local police department and/or the department the Walmart store is located in?
