Large bulk photo transfer from iPhone to Macbook

I have an iPhone 13 and it's memory is full (256gb) of photos. I want to transfer all photos to my Macbook Pro. So the easy task won't be complete for some reason. I have around 23000 pictures. They were all transferred and transferred in full. Then every time I reconnect an iPhone again it takes around 5 min to pull up all the photo data from the phone and it shows 500 as new photos. I click to transfer all new photos, it does show progress and eventually it finishes. I securely disconnect a phone and reconnect it back again, and after a while of pulling up all data again it still shows those same 500 pictures as new photos, so it won’t transfer them. Because it's a pretty bulky transfer I don't know how to get it done right to be sure that all photos were backed up. Does anyone have the same issue??
