Does anyone have the plugin update for Apple Aperture Nikon D850?

I'm still using Aperture & have no plans to upgrade or change to a new photo editor mainly because I still using my 2010 MacPro desktop which does everything I want it to do. However, I recently purchased a Nikon D850 & since Apple stopped supporting Aperture, I cannot import photos from the D850 into Aperture as the program doesn't recognize it without the update or plugin. Does anyone have the update or plugin for the Nikon D850?

Note: as a workaround, I convert the Nikon NEF files to Adobe DNG & then can import them into Aperture but it's an inconvenient hassle. Also, It takes of memory space by having to save both files.

Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

There is no plug-in and never was. Raw support is and was always at the OS level, so you will need to upgrade your OS to the version that supported the D850. To the best of my knowledge that was added as part of 10.13, circa 2018. It's one of the difficulties of running apps that were end-of-life'd 8 or 9 years ago. I still miss Aperture.

BTW I think the point of the DNG is that it means you would no longer keep the NEFs.

Thanks. I knew that was going to be the answer but had to ask anyway. I'll deal with it.

Yeah, I'm not ready to give up on my NEF files yet. I'll save them to an external drive for later use.

I got away from using Aperture when Apple announced it was going to stop supporting it & started using Lightroom mainly because I find printing from Lightroom is a breeze, but became frustrated with having to pay a subscription just to turn it on & view my photos after the Lightroom support stopped. I cancelled Lightroom & went back & started using Aperture with my D600 & never had an issue but have to admit, I haven't done much printing. I upgraded to the D850 & encountered this problem. Converting to DNG is just a step I would have liked to avoid.

Yeah, I really miss Apple's lack of support of Aperture. What a great program. I use Photos for my iPhone but hate the interface. iPhoto in my opinion was far superior.

The iPhone changed everything.........

Thanks for the quick response. Greatly appreciated.
