I have a new Hp printer and need to install it. I have deleted the old one but do I need to remove all the old drivers and Hp apps before I try and add the new one? if I do how do I do this?

MacOS will prompt to select the Driver while installing printer. So, You could select the new drivers without removing the old driver while configuring the new Printer. (Make sure to install the new Printer driver before proceeding with installing)

You probably do not need to remove all the old stuff.
However, it would help greatly if you tell us the model #'s of both your old & new printers. There may be specific things about them that could affect your installation.
