Recycle MacBooks at Apple store
I have several old MacBooks I cannot start up and therefore cannot wipe clean (water damage, etc.) Can I just drop them off at the Apple Store for them to recycle?

yes, an Apple Store will recycle them for free.
but since they don't boot, if it was me, I would open them up and physically remove the HDD / SSD. you can go to OWC’s website and find the HDD replacement videos for those specific Macs to see how to remove the drives.
