MacBook Pro (M1, 2020) Touch Bar is not lighting up

Device: MacBook Pro 13-inch, M1, 2020

macOS: 14.5 (23F79)

Touch Bar Settings:

  • Show Control Strip is ON

I tried these commands: Touch Bar is not showing the Control Stri… - Apple Community

Anecdotal notes:

  • This laptop has severely downgraded after updating to Sonoma 14.1+
  • I noticed the Touch bar stop lighting up a few days ago and also noticed my laptop crashed every time i put it to sleeep
  • Just today I wasn't able to login, the laptop would get stuck after entering password. I kept noticing the Touch Bar flash which is what makes me wonder if that is related
  • I was able to login after countless restart cycles
  • When I logged back in I saw the attached report for "Your computer was restarted because of a problem."

I'm happy to share the full report if that's helpful. At this point I am at a total loss. Would appreciate any and all help. Thank you

On your M1—

M1/M2/M3 SoC.

The best you can do if you have an issue— equivalent Shut down, close the lid 30 secs+ , reboot as normal.

If no resolve try SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support to sort anomalies.

No insight—

You can try running the Diagnostic/AHT How to use Apple Hardware Test on your Mac - Apple Support

if no resolve I would suspect a hardware issue, if you need further assistance:

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"
