The XML document sent from application Final Cut Pro could not be imported.

Hi.

I am working on a television project and usually the editor is sending me the first cut that I am working further on it. There have been no issues until now. But if I want to open the XML, I am displayed this error:

We both have version 10.7.1. I have also tried to open it with TextEdit, but it will not. "The document could not be opened. TextEdit cannot open files in the “Package” format.

Can anyone help me and suggest what is the problem?

Thank you.

Liis

The current version uses a package format, with extension .fcpxmld

To get to the actual xml file, you can use TextMate, or you can

control-click in the Finder, Show Package Contents, and then open

the Info.fcpxml file inside.

I am not exactly sure, but I think this can be due to problems with file naming (perhaps a file that should have an extension but doesn't).

If you can share the xml, we may take a look.

I took a look at the xml.

I can more or less see the problem. For example:

<asset id="r4" name="990_7007" uid="2379DDF20BCEAB9E42250017155C199E" start="171784500/2500s" duration="344/25s" hasVideo="1" format="r3" hasAudio="1" videoSources="1" audioSources="8" audioChannels="1" audioRate="48000">
            <metadata>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.identification.filemodificationdate" value="2024-04-30 11:16:23 +0000"/>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.identification.generationid" value="5b255594.4cbb1236.a9acec5c.8428e4c6"/>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.identification.applicationsuppliername" value="Sony"/>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.identification.applicationname" value="Mem "/>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.identification.applicationversionstring" value="2.00"/>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.identification.applicationproductid" value="cede1104.828011de.8a390800.4678031c"/>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.package.material.creationtime" value="2024-04-30 11:16:23 +0000"/>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.package.material.packageid" value="0x060A2B340101010501010D431300000000F53E98300406D1EC5C84FFFE28E4C6"/>
                <md key="org.smpte.mxf.package.material.packagelastmodified" value="2024-04-30 11:16:23 +0000"/>
            </metadata>
        </asset>

The problem is in the top line. The asset lacks a source. There is no media representation of this asset, and thus no corresponding tag like src="file:///Volumes/..."

Other assets do not look like this, and are ok. For example:

<asset id="r5" name="990_6984" uid="88EE9066990B61D4FE6DCEF978425EF2" start="156114100/2500s" duration="5581/25s" hasVideo="1" format="r3" hasAudio="1" videoSources="1" audioSources="8" audioChannels="1" audioRate="48000">
