over $50 of apple cash disappeared out of thin air

I had 2 of my friends apple cash me $28 each. Upon receiving it I realized the card that I had attached didn't work because I deactivated it. I simply insisted they used cash and hit the rejected button. In my wallet it says rejected and in their wallet it also says rejected. Moments later they got a charge for 28 then a refund from apple +28 in both of their accounts, 20 min later apple cash took the 28 back out canceling out the refund and essentially charging them the $28. 2 weeks past and we hopped in a car and talked to 2 apple reps they insisted that this was out banks fault and that it had nothing to do with apple cash. We contacted the bank and put in the dispute on both of their accounts. It appears at this point apple has denied the dispute claiming it was not a mistake. I don't have the money my friends don't have the money it has been 2 months since the transaction date. What do we do from here? Should I cut my losses and take the $54 hit?

What you should have done was read the Terms & Conditions of Apple Cash. Not trying to be a smart *ss, just sayn’ that the Apple reps didn’t give you the best advice and I’m not sure your banks did either.

Apple Cash is serviced by Green Dot Bank. The Apple Cash virtual card in your Apple Wallets is a virtual prepaid debit card issued by Green Dot Bank.

You are the recipient of funds and really don’t have standing with Green Dot to do much in this issue. Your friends that sent you Apple Cash need to contact an Apple Cash specialist with Green Dot Bank ASAP. The clock is ticking. There are limits on requesting refunds etc. unless fraud is involved.

Contact an Apple Cash Specialist at Green Dot Bank by calling (877)-233-8552.

You may need to provide some evidence to your friends, but Green Dot should be able to see internally where the funds came from and went and explain it to your friends.

If things are still confusing after they talk to Green Dot, just post a reply.
