A week ago my internet connection died - message "Simm problem/SOS". I went to T-mobile, they took out the Simm and re-inserted. A few days later, same problem, I went back to T-mobile Market & 3rd St. San Francisco, they said that I have to buy an Iphone 15 or I will continue to have this problem.

The SIM itself may be failing. The people working in the store have no interest in fixing your problem. All they want to do is sell you another phone.
Before you do anything else, tell them to give you a replacement SIM.

It may not be a question of your phone being "obsolete". Apple certainly doesn't consider it so. It will be getting the update to iOS 18 in the fall. The issue may be that there's something wrong with your particular phone. Have you tried taking it to Apple?
