Invalid phone number when using Apple Pay

I'm trying to use Apple Pay on a website, and the payment portal tells me that my phone number is invalid. It's the same exact number I've always used for years! I tried re-entering it, but it doesn't help. What can I do to fix this?

It could be a merchant issue. Some merchants use address verification service to try and reduce fraud. The service may have the wrong phone number for you. It’s also possible the bank and Payment Network Operator have wrong information for you.


Apple Pay supplies information from you >>Me<< contact card in the Contacts app on your device.
