Local Calendar and Notes are gone after synching Messages app to my iPhone
Background: I had been using the Messages app on my iPhone as well as on my Macbook, but text messages were sometimes only showing up on one device or the other, and I was therefore missing important text messages.
To fix that problem, I followed a tutorial that guided me through the process of synching my iPhone and Macbook Messages app. However, once I did that, my Notes app (which I only really use on my Macbook) was overwritten by the few random notes I had entered on my iPhone, and so I lost my entire collection of important notes. This is bad. I also lost all my Calendar events and labels (Calendar is another app that I primarily use on my Macbook). This is really bad.
I am so upset that I can't seem to reverse the synch that I did. I've since decided to just remove the Messages app completely from my Macbook, so that texts only go to and from my phone.
My problem: I'd really love to be able to restore the lost data to my Calendar and Notes app, from the time before I unwittingly synched them with my phone. I've tried restoring the calendar from iCloud without success, and nothing I do seems to be working. I can't figure out if Time Machine might have an earlier snapshot of the apps that I can use to restore them. I don't even know how to use Time Machine to be honest.
I just want my Calendar and Notes back. Can anyone help?
