SD card adapter not transferring photos

I have an old Nikon D60 that I’m trying to get pictures off of. There was a time where I plugged the SD card straight into a dell computer with no adapter and it worked perfectly but I no longer have that computer and now have a Macbook Air so I needed to get an adapter which I got from Walmart just now and i tried to connect it straight to my phone and made me download an app but the files on the app said I wasn’t allowed to access them so I tried on my computer and there’s still nothing. What do I do ?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.4

What adapter? Make & model.

Why connected to your phone? It should be connected to your Mac if you want to transfer the D60 images from the SD card to your Mac.

A standard USB SD card reader connected to your Mac should work fine to transfer images. You would connect the SD card reader to your Mac, insert the SD card in the reader, then open a Finder window to copy the images from the SD card to a folder on your Mac.
