Issue with Device Connection: Must be on the Same Network

I’m experiencing an issue where I need to connect my Apple devices to the same network for them to interact correctly. This seems counterintuitive given the advanced technology Apple is known for. Is Apple planning to address this issue in a future update? It would be great if the devices could seamlessly connect without the restriction of being on the same network. Any insights or information would be appreciated.

Your iPhone would normally connect automatically to nearby known (=previously authenticated) networks, including your home network. I think that Apple might see this as already solved. How would your iPhone connect to a different network when at home? Please elaborate.

The software remote works over Wi-Fi, not IR nor Bluetooth. Therefore it needs to connect to the same network as what the Apple TV box is connected to.

I am encountering an issue when using the Apple TV Remote feature on my iPhone. For the remote control to function, both my iPhone and Apple TV need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. This restriction poses a problem, especially in situations where the devices are on different networks or when network configurations change.


For example, if my Apple TV is connected to my home Wi-Fi but my iPhone is on a different network, I am unable to use the remote control feature. This limitation undermines the convenience and flexibility that Apple devices are known for.


Is Apple planning to address this issue in a future update? It would be much more practical if the Apple TV Remote on the iPhone could work regardless of the network the devices are connected to. Any insights or information from the community or Apple support would be greatly appreciated.
