In pages I can not create a new document of any type from the templates page as it just doesn’t respond and sits with a spinning icon. According to a similar report , I should delete the app and then reload, but if I do that I will lose my data.

This occurs when I select Recent Pages option and then the + Button which takes one to the template window where I selected a template. The template was shaded and a continuously revolving circle icon was displayed.
When I selected On My IPad button a create document button was displayed. I was then able to create a new document.
i tried adding pictures of the screens but this page wouldn’t accept three, but I have a solution.
Creating new pages from templates does not respond.
