Ive just created a folder and now my macbook wont let me rename it

Ive just created a folder and now my macbook wont let me rename it. I just get "You don’t have permission to rename the item “New Folder With Items”.


MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.5

Okay, so we are making progress!


To access sharing and permission settings for a folder on a Mac, follow these steps:

  1. Select the folder in the Finder and choose File > Get Info (or press Command+I).
  2. In the Info window, click the triangle next to "Sharing & Permissions" to expand that section.
  3. Click the lock icon and enter your admin password to unlock the settings.


Is the folder in question giving you read and write permissions?
