Camera Not Recognized - Tried to scan QR code, camera froze then stopped working properly
I have an iPhone 13 Pro, updated to the current iOS version 17.5.1
My phone has never had any problems, errors, or needs for repairs. There's no water damage, no broken screen, never taken to any shop for repairs.
I tried to scan a QR code on the Camera app on photo mode. As I opened the Camera app, and pointed the camera to the QR code, the screen froze in place. I was able to slide up to return back to the home screen, and everything else was functioning properly except for the camera app. I waited about a minute to see if it would unfreeze itself, but it was still frozen. I swiped up on it and closed the app. Reopening the app up would still show the frozen screen. I waited 5 minutes and tried to continue to open and close the Camera app, but it was still frozen. All other aspects of the phone were functional.
I tried a hard reset by pressing the volume up, volume down, then holding the power button until the phone turned off and the apple logo popped up. Once my phone restarted and I got to the home screen, I received an error message saying, "Camera Not Recognized" and in settings -> general -> about it states next to the camera "Unknown Part"
I contacted support over the phone, went through privacy & security -> analytics & improvements to share any error reports. The support agent said she can see an error coming from the camera.
I spoke to another agent who helped me try a couple other steps. I downloaded the app "Apple Devices" on my computer and tried to do some different resets. I did a hard reset, waiting until the phone gets into computer mode, plugging my phone into the computer, and on the Apple Devices app on my computer, I reinstalled the most recent update for the phone. This uninstalled and reinstalled the software. That did not work.
I did the same steps one more time, but I fully reset the phone, erasing all data, and starting it back up fresh. This did not work either.
I took the phone to an authorized dealer, and without inspecting it they told me my only option was to swap out the camera, but I don't have warranty coverage and I cannot afford to pay over $200 for a camera swap at the moment.
Problems with the camera include: photo mode starting in 2x zoom, unable to properly engage the zoom options, video mode unable to get more than 3x zoom, zoom slider consistently returns to a lower zoom value, the quality of the photos appears worse than before all this happened, and a consistent error message with a notification on setting that there is an non-apple genuine part or the camera is not functioning properly.
Attached is a picture of the error message. I have a video describing the problems with the camera, but I'm not sure I can attach videos on here.
Is there anything I can do manually without needing to swap out the camera? If I'm sol, I'll just deal with the error until I get enough to get a new iPhone...
