Apps Aren’t Updating

The apps on my phone won’t update. On Spotify, I don’t have the updated features that my friends have. On Instagram, I don’t have the ability to like notes like my other friends can. Weirdly enough, I don’t have the option to update these apps, and when I do, these features don’t get added and I remain behind on the versions of my apps. Is it because my previous phone wasn’t an iPhone?? I don’t know.

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17

If not updated automatically, you might check your iPhone has the newest iOS 17 update:

You can check in Settings > General > Software Update. (It is always wise to back-up your data before updating)

Third-party (non-Apple) apps are not updated automatically, in the way that Apple's apps are updated with iOS.

You may need to make sure you download the iOS version (not the Windows version)

Eg: You may want to install the iOS version of Spotify directly from the App Store :

App Store Spotify webpage: https://apps.applhttps://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252

Else: You may be able to update from within the Spotify app:

(or from their website https://support.spotify.com/us/article/updating-spotify/)

Try the same with Instagram : Instagram on the App Store : https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252

Else: See if you can update from within their app, or troubleshoot on their website

Sorry, I don't know either. You may need the iOS version in order to update.

If you still can't update, or install, you might find out from Spotify and Instagram via their Support.

All the best :-)
