I’m editing a project in FCP and whenever I export a cut, certain shots are cropped in extremely far with no apparent reason why. I have checked that all crops/transforms/distort are all deselected on every clip, and in my timeline it shows as a normal video. But when it’s exported, and also in the cover picture of the project, certain clips are punched way in with no way to fix it. Does anyone know how to fix this before my project is due?
I've seen this happen, but not in a long time. Back when I and others on my team had this issue (was some specific version of FCPX) we fixed it by turning off background rendering, delete all render files, relaunch FCP.

What are your export settings? What version of FCP?
Does this happen only with this specific project?
Here is one thing you can try: select all, copy, create a new project, and paste. In case something was corrupted in the original project, this new one may work correctly.
I am as puzzled as you with the limited information you give.
I would point out that deselecting the transform tools only applies to the selected clip and not to the whole project unless you have selected all the clips in the timeline.
