Will my carrier charge me for making international FaceTime audio calls?

Hello.

I just want to know if I’ll be charged for using FaceTime audio to call a friend that lives in America (I live in the Middle East). I always make the calls on Wi-Fi using my iPhone but sometimes I forget to turn off my cellular. I FaceTime my friend’s US number, not email. Will I still be charged? Will my carrier count this as international calling? Or is free (like using WhatsApp)? I call her almost everyday for 3+ hours.

Please let me know. I’ve been FaceTiming her for almost a month and now I’m panicking.

FaceTime calls go through the cellular data part of your cellular plan. So it only consumes data from the plan and those are not considered an international call. So you won’t be charged for an international call but the data you use will be imputed. If you have an unlimited data plan then no worries. Otherwise keep checking your data usage (Settings > Cellular Data) to make sure that you do not go above your allotted monthly data.
