Missing Plugin error whilst using multi-cam clips

Hello! I'm having a very frustrating issue at the moment that shows all of my multicam clips as 'Missing Plugin' error.

I am unable to playback the clip in the timeline or media browser. If I right click the clip and 'reveal in finder' it takes me straight to the relevant file.

Things I have tried:

  • Restart Mac
  • Restart FCPX
  • Update MacOS
  • Update FCPX
  • Relink files
  • Move files location to another storage location
  • Consolidating files
  • Transcoding files
  • Recreating Proxy files
  • Re-install FCPX
  • Remove all custom plugins / effects / titles

I will be really grateful for any advice or help anyone can provide!

Thanks in advance - Will

You have CleanMyMac installed, which can break the OS and cause problems for professional applications. Start by completely uninstalling. It's possible it's damaged the OS and you'll need to reinstall Sonoma.

You have Google's autoupdating software installed which can break the video toolbox. To completely remove Chrome and all the cruft Google installs, follow the instructions at https://chromeisbad.com then reinstall FCP from the App Store.

Your SanDisk SSD is full. You want a minimum of 15% free space on drives.

You likely don't need to optimize the footage if it's playing back from the SSD, so turn off Create Optimized footage in Settings. Then select the library in the browser and use File->Delete Generated Library media and remove everything. If you do in fact need them, you can always easily regenerate.

Sorry, please let me know anything you need and I can get it for you.

The media only becomes an issue once it's placed into a Multicam. If I edit a sequence and not use Multicam all media is fine.

I can reproduce in another library but it will only appear once I close and re-open FCP.

Trashing my settings did not work unfortunately.

Thank you for your help Tom! Please let me know if there's anything else you need to help you help me.
