Audiobooks and music cut out when using other apps

Recently my audiobooks or music cut off when I try to play games while listening. This used to not happen, but now it does and it happens with lots of other games/apps, not just one. I have the games on silent, but it still happens. It seems like it might have something to do with ads that run while playing a game. It's becoming really annoying because I have to stop and find the song/book and start it again and then it turns off a couple minutes later. I don't understand why it's suddenly started happening. I have done this for years with no problem. What changed? Any solutions?

Its likely due to changes in how apps handle audio playback and interruptions. Here are some steps you can take to mitigate this issue:

1. Check Background App Refresh

- Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.

- Ensure that background app refresh is enabled for your audiobook and music apps.

2. Disable In-App Sounds and Music

- In the settings of each game, ensure that all in-app sounds and music are turned off, not just muted.

3. Check for App Updates

- Ensure that all your apps, including your audiobook, music, and game apps, are up to date. Developers frequently release updates to address bugs and improve performance.

4. Check for iOS Updates

- Make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Go to Settings > General > Software Update

5. Review Permissions

- Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and make sure that your audiobook and music apps have the necessary permissions.

6. Restart Your iPhone

- Restart your iPhone to clear any temporary issues that might be affecting app performance.

7. Reinstall Affected Apps

- Delete and reinstall the apps that are having issues (both the audiobook/music apps and the games).

8. Adjust Audio Settings

- Go to Settings > Music > Playback and ensure that there are no settings interfering with your audio experience.

- Check the settings within your audiobook app and music app for any playback or audio focus options.

9. Turn Off Low Power Mode

- If you have Low Power Mode enabled, it can restrict background activities. Go to Settings > Battery and turn off Low Power Mode if it’s on.

10. Disable App Notifications

- For the games that interrupt your playback, you can try disabling notifications. Go to Settings > Notifications and turn off notifications for those games.

11. Try Using Different Audio Output

- Sometimes switching between different audio outputs (like Bluetooth headphones, wired headphones, or the device's speakers) can help resolve the issue.

12. Use Do Not Disturb

- Enable Do Not Disturb mode to prevent notifications from interrupting your audio. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be related to specific app behaviors or changes in how iOS handles audio interruptions. In that case, consider reaching out to Apple Support or the app developers for further assistance.
