Yahoo mail not being retrieved by MacMail

On my iMac (late 2015), I have entered my password for AT&T, for Yahoo Mail, and for MacMail's Internet Accounts, yet MacMail hasn't downloaded new mail from the Yahoo server for three days. I've restarted the computer several times, and I force quit MacMail, but still no change. However, my iPhone mail is in sync with the Yahoo server. All my archived folders are in the MacMail app, and I frequently dip into them. Unfortunately, those same archives are not available to me on the Yahoo server, only folders under my user name, so I really prefer to use MacMail rather than going to the server.

Mac's Mail App is not as modern as iOS's Mail app, Many eMail providers now require a separate App Password different from your eMail password…

Yahoo has gone to this too...

Yahoo App password…

Generate and manage third-party app passwords

Some older, third-party email apps (that do not use our Yahoo branded sign in page) require you to enter a single password for login credentials. To access your Yahoo Mail account on these apps, you'll need to generate and use an app password. An app password is a long, randomly generated code that gives a non-Yahoo app permission to access your Yahoo account. You’ll only need to provide this code once to sign in to your third-party email app.
