I am getting fiber internet in a few weeks and still have Apple TV model 1625 and would like to find out if it is still usable.

Agreed. Most of Apple TV improvements since have had to do with processors, 4K processing and gee-whiz sound and user-interface gimmicks, aka incremental improvements. They are neither missed nor noticeable if one doesn’t have much use for them. That said, I can recommend the newer remote - it’s fully compatible with your Apple TV and is a huge improvement.
