Thumbnails for videos how to edit

on iPad in thumbnail view of my videos I like to change the picture or rather add via markup a text to the displayed thumbnail. How can I do this in order to better identify the contents

On the Mac you can use QuickTime Player to scroll to the desired frame, Edit > Copy, then in Finder > Get Info, select the thumbnail in the upper left, and Paste.

Or the grab a frame at 30.2 seconds with ffmpeg and insert it with exiftool:

ffmpeg -ss 30.2 -i movie.mov -frames:v 1 image-%03d.jpg

exiftool -P -overwrite_original '-CoverArt<=image-001.jpg' movie.mov
