How to avoid two step verification because don't have access to old phone number

If you use iCloud Mail as the contact email address then you are now learning why you should not do that. :-( Also the disadvantage of only having a single trusted device or phone number.

Two factor cannot be turned off and it is designed to do exactly what you are trying to do - get into an account where you don't have access to required information.

Can she get access to iCloud mail using a web browser? I don't use iCloud Mail so I have never checked if that is possible without secondary security.

If you had set up an Account Recovery Contact ( Set up an account recovery contact - Apple Support ) you can also get a code that way.

You'll have to contact Apple and see if they have a solution for you.

If she has a new phone and you can transfer phone service to that with the same number, she can then get a code sent to her trusted device.

To see, add, or change your trusted phone numbers use one of these methods:

● On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > your name > Password & Security. Next to Trusted Phone Number, tap Edit.

● On a Mac computer choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click your name (or Apple ID). Click Password & Security, then add or remove a trusted phone number.

● Using a web browser:

1) Go to https://appleid.apple.com and sign in.

2) Follow security options until you find one letting you change trusted numbers,

3) Click "+" to add a new number (you may be required to verify this number).

4) If you wish to remove an old number, click "-" next to the number.
