Option key not showing startup disk options on M2 Mac Studio

M2 Mac Studio running Ventura 13.6.7. Want to boot with Sonoma by holding option key and selecting Sonoma partition. System skips over that screen and just boots into Ventura which is my usual start up disk. I know I can manually set the start up disk but wondering why holding option key no longer works?

Macs with Apple Silicon chips cannot get to the startup manager that way.

Shut the Mac down. Turn it back on and hold the power key. You will eventually get the startup manager.

I only do that if I want to run in Safe Mode. It's much faster to choose the other bootable volume in System Settings and restart.

Er, yes, I already described the only way to get there was by shutting the Mac down. Then turning it back on and holding the power key in.

I was responding to your reply:

Suggest cabling the keyboard to the computer

Reason, the Bluetooth Kernel may not load fast enough to allow the keyboard to function during this process

Cabled keyboard should work

I could only assume after seeing my first response you were implying a cabled keyboard would allow the user to do an Option key startup on an Apple Silicon Mac. This cannot be done.
