laptop for a medical student?

Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions that hopefully someone can help me. I’m a current sonography student, an ultrasound course. I own the iPad Air 5th Gen and it work perfectly, however my professors told me that I need a laptop to plug in my techs. Which is the ultrasound machine and the devices we use to scan. I am looking for a used, just something to plug in my devices. Which laptop would be best ? I do my classwork on my iPad but need a laptop for my coursework, canvas and well to plug in my machines. It would be much appreciated if you guys can give me wallet-friendly options. Preferably apple but open to other brands.
